In the past I identified the sons of Ishmael as belonging to Q y-dna haplogroup and then I changed my mind when I came to a major adjustment of my understanding in regards to some of the haplogroups. I changed my identification of the sons of Ishmael to T y-dna haplogroup.
I now think I was originally right that the sons of Ishmael were Q haplogroup and that the sons of Esau or Edom are T y-dna haplogroup. Thus the Idumeans and King Herod belong to T haplogroup. The American Indians of Q1a are thus the eastern branch of the Ishmaelites and not Edomites as I formerly proposed.
Thus those Jewish people who belong to T haplogroup are descended originally from Edomites who converted to Judaism in second Temple times and those Jewish people who are Q y-dna are descended from Ishmaelites who converted to Judaism in first or second Temple times. The founders of Rome and the early Romans belonged originally to the T y-dna Latins of Latium. Thus Rome became associated as Edom. Today in the central Italy three percent are male line descendants of Edom. I will need to correct some of my writings in regard to this new identification. Of course, I may be wrong in my identifications and this is my best guess made on the evidence after studying the haplogroups and world history and its movements.
It was the Kingdom of Edom that originally was located in the area of northern Arabia rather than Ishmael. It was the Ishmaeli Jewish priests of J1 y-dna descended from Aaron that gave the name of the Arabs of Saudi Arabia the name of Ishmaelites.
Esau by his wife Oholibamah (also called Judith) Esau had three sons Korah, Jaalam and Jeush. She was a Canaanite Hivite. From Korah would descend the Herodians (T-Z709) and Idumaeans (T-Y15711) and the original Romans or Latins (T-Z709). These early Romans were ruled by Kings who were descended from the Trojan Prince Aeneas and his grandson Romulus of Q1b y-dna. The area of Latium and Sicily has around 7 percent of Q y-dna today. They were eventually succeeded by the Tarquini Kings and thus some of the Royal Roman class were R1b U152 and the bulk of the people and the older Kings of Latium were the T1a1 descendants of Korah.
The Herodian Kings of Idumaea were most likely descended from a Roman noble called Antipater descended from the Kings of Latium.When the monarchy was overthrown Antipater left Rome and moved to Macedonia and his grandson also called Antipater became one of Alexander the Great's generals. From him descended Antipater Etesias King of Macedonia who fled to Egypt in the 3rd century BC. Herod's grandfather Antipater or Antipas, who converted to Judaism in the time of John Hyrcanus, was descended from Etesias' son who then became the ruler of the Idumaeans.
Thus, the T1a1 Edomites were descendants of Korah and his brothers. T1a2 were descendants of Reuel and his brothers and T1a3 from Eliphaz and his sons.
